Introduction

Conflict has become more violent and widespread in Nigeria and across Africa: from the boko haram insurgency, to banditry, communal clashes, IPOB and Militancy. At the center of all these are women and children. Conflict greatly affects women and girls reproductive health. For instance Women and children make up 79 per cent of the population displaced by the conflict between the Nigerian government and the armed movement informally known as Boko Haram. Since 2009, hundreds of women and girls have been abducted, sexually abused and forced into marriages. Many subjected to sexual violence and mental abuse. women face mental and sexual health challenges in a context of limited access to quality healthcare and justice.

Addressing Gaps in Policy and Access to Reproductive Healthcare for women in conflict context tries to bridge these gaps through our programs.
Program activities


a. Inter-Agency Collaboration:

  • Establish a task force involving health, security, and social welfare
    agencies to ensure a comprehensive approach.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and information-sharing mechanisms.Capacity Building:

  •   programs for healthcare providers and government
    officials on the unique needs of women in conflict zones.
  • Empower local communities with knowledge about reproductive health
    rights.

c. Infrastructure Development:

  • Assess and improve healthcare infrastructure in conflict zones, ensuring
    accessibility and functionality.
  • Integrate technology for data collection and monitoring.

d. Community Engagement:

  • Foster community dialogues to understand specific needs and cultural
    nuances.
  • Involve local leaders and influencers in promoting awareness and
    acceptance.

e. Policy Advocacy:

  • Collaborate with policymakers to tailor existing policies for better
    inclusivity.

Advocate for increased budget allocation to women’s reproductive health
in conflict areas.

needs and gaps women face in accessing reproductive health care
